When I was younger, I used to play with Barbie dolls all of the time. I had quite the collection, and so did my best friend. Since we lived so close, we would take turns playing at each other’s houses and of course each had a little rolling suitcase to make for easy transport. I feel like I was in the Barbie stage for quite a large chunk of my childhood, and was glad that my mom kept a few of my Barbie dolls for my future girls.
Since I don’t have any kids yet, I put them out whenever my niece comes over. She loves playing with them as much as I did, if not more!
Last time she was over, we hopped online and went to the Barbie website. There is so much to do on that site! There are a ton of fun, interactive games and even a way to virtually design a Barbie Dream House. I wanted to share in case any of you have young girls that would enjoy this site as much as my niece does.
Ikea is one of my favorite places to shop. Even though it can be a pain in the butt to assemble some of their items (since the instructions are just pictures and there isn’t a lick of English in sight), I still love what they have. Their furniture is unique and you can find home decor to match your home no matter what look you have. Since it’s such a big store, they buy in mass quantities which means that they can sell for cheap.
I had no idea they had such a great collection of children’s items. I came across this playroom kitchen for kids and I know my kiddos with love this. They also have a ton of accessories to compliment this: artificial dessert sets, coffee and tea sets, vegetable sets, and more. Let your child’s imagination go to town with this fun kitchen that resembles the kitchen of a “grown-up”.
If you have kids, you understand that sometimes trying to clean up after them is like shoveling during a blizzard, or washing the car when you live on a gravel road. There are some really simple methods to organizing their play space that don’t have to take a lot of time, energy, or money.
For example, you can hang a simple over-the-door shoe rack on the back of a girl’s room or toy room and use it to hold and store Barbie dolls. This is much more fun for them to use than a tote or basket. You can also hang one in a boy’s room or toy room and they can use it to put their cars away in. It can even be made into a fun game for you to play together!
What other ideas for kids’ rooms organization do you have? I can’t wait to hear!
Anyone who gets this for their kid should consider having some type of psychiatric evaluation done. This is a set of figurines that are supposed to be the victims from a B movie. They are in various poses with the terrified look of a someone being chased by Freddy Kreuger. Now, granted, most boys do use their imagination and pretend to sometimes “kill” their action figures, so maybe this isn’t such a bad idea after all.
I sometimes think that kids have some of the neatest toys possible. All the little things toys can, the clicks, the whirs, the colors, the sounds are just tailor made for happiness. I can honestly foresee me and my newborn having equal amounts of fun at Christmas and birthdays with the new toys.
