Beer Stein

September 3rd, 2010

I have German heritage and as a result, have a special affection for that culture. One of the things I love to collect are beer steins. Now, while this may not be an authentic stein from the motherland, but having one with my name on it plus a special quotation makes this a real neat find.

Door mat

September 1st, 2010

OK, I may get accused of ringing in Halloween too soon, but this would make a nice decoration for October 31. A personalized door mat in the shape of a pumpkin is one way to add a unique touch to your home’s decor when the kids come trick or treating.

Now that school is close to being back in full swing, you can make your child feel even more special with a personalized backpack. Now, teenagers and older kids might not find the appeal of this, but kids in elementary school would love to have their name on their backpack.

Antique toys

August 27th, 2010

In this age of instant entertainment from video games, movies and toys, it’s hard to sometimes imagine what previous generations did, outside of sports, to entertain themselves. Fortunately, there are some sites that offer antique toys. This gives older generations a chance to relive some fond childhood memories and give the current generation a glimpse of the past.

Old and used books

August 26th, 2010

Even though there is a trend toward e-books and tablet computers, there is still nothing like holding a book in your hand. And having a classic of literature and having an early edition would be even better. Now, this might be a little on the expensive side, but having something like this would be really cool.

Vinyl Records

August 25th, 2010

Just by mentioning vinyl records, you’re looking at something that is rare and collectible. There are two types of vinyl records; 33s and 45s. 33s were the larger, full album records where the 45s contained only two songs, one on each side. 45s are where the concept of the single in music comes from.

Vintage magazines

August 24th, 2010

It’s interesting to find old publications to see people’s perspective on historic events that were current for them. There are quite a few vintage magazines available online, but since most of these magazines had many issues during a year, listing them all becomes a time consuming process. If you’re looking for something specific, you can contact these people to see if they have it.

August 23rd, 2010

If you’re a fan of movies, and not just the blockbusters that Hollywood produces, you’ll probably spend a few hours perusing this site. There are some movies that you could find elsewhere, but this site does have some rare movies such as this documentary on bodybuilding featuring a young Arnold Schwarzenegger.
